Dallas secure comeback win against the Bucks

The Mavericks bounced back on Thursday night after suffering a surprise loss to the struggling Rockets on Wednesday.

The Bucks were without Giannis for the third straight game and have now lost back to back games after defeating the Kings.

In a back and forth battle early on, Luka Doncic found his touch but that didn't stop the Bucks from establishing a first quarter lead.

The teams continued to trade leads in the second quarter with neither able to bull away. Six points being the biggest lead either team could build up. Luka was the key man for Dallas and brought them to within one at the half with a driving layup. HT: Bucks 56-55 Mavs.

Luka retained the hot hands to begin the second half and after dropping a tidy layup to begin the quarter, he hit a stepback three to give Dallas the initiative.

The Mavs took the lead and appeared to be on the cusp of pulling away from Milwaukee but a 12 point swing during the last 90 seconds of the third quarter gave the lead back to the Bucks. The Mavs failed to close out the quarter despite enjoying an 8 point lead with just 1:30 remaining in the third and ultimately went into the final period down four.

A pair of free throws to begin the fourth made it a 14-0 run for Milwaukee but the Mavs managed to stabilize things and midway through the quarter, Doncic kicked the ball out to Kristaps Porzingis who nailed from beyond the arc, giving Dallas a two point lead.

The Mavericks didn't look back after regaining the lead and rode the coattails of Porzingis who had 11 fourth quarter points including 3 trebles. Doncic finished the game with 27 pts 9 rebs & 9 assists while Porzingis had a 26 point, 13 rebound double-double.

Dallas move onto 29 wins for the season and now sit just one game back on the 6th place Portland Trail Blazers in the West. Final Score in Dallas: Bucks 101-116 Mavs.
