Crowder leads the Suns past Houston

The Phoenix Suns edged the Houston Rockets on Monday night thanks to a 26 point performance from Jae Crowder.



Houston have now lost 40 games this season and they sit in pole position to claim the no.1 pick in the 2021 NBA draft.


The teams traded buckets early on before the Suns pushed ahead off the back of a combined 19 points from Jae Crowder & DeAndre Ayton (11 & 8).


The Suns bench managed to keep the momentum going for Phoenix early in the second quarter before the starters returned to all but finish the game by the half.


Jae Crowder hit a career high, eight three pointers in the game and five of them came in the final six minutes of the first half. The power forward had the hot hands and hit all 26 of his points in the first half as the Suns went into the break with a 23 point lead. HT: Rockets 58-81 Suns.



Phoenix shot an impressive 55.6% from three as a team which included 25 makes while holding the Rockets to just 17 makes.


With a healthy lead the Suns took their foot of the gas in the third but they still maintained a comfortable advantage thanks to a 12 point third quarter from Devin Booker. The Suns star man had a polished performance finishing with 24 pts 7 rebs & 7 assists, shooting 50% from the field and 40% from deep.


Houston began to find their touch in the fourth quarter with Brooks and Kevin Porter stepping up with some big buckets to help the Rockets close to within five points of Phoenix.


The Houston fight back was quickly quashed by DeAndre Ayton however as the Suns big man dropped eight fourth quarter points to all but ice the win for Phoenix. The Rockets outscored the Suns 62-45 in the second half but the home teams monster first half allowed them to lead by at least five points for the final 40 minutes of the game. Final Score in Phoenix: Rockets 120-126 Suns.



The Suns win puts them just 1.5 games back on the no.1 seed Jazz as they continue their impressive season. The Rockets now sit level at the bottom of the West with the Minnesota Timberwolves with a record of 14-40.
